Chapter 12

That evening as the sun began its set, casting long shadows across the field, the girls met up together. There were streaks of dirt on their faces and their clothes were rumpled, but their eyes shone brightly with excitement.

They were tired to their bones but it had been a great day.

"Wow, what a day!" Una exclaimed, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face, a wide smile lighting up her features.

"You're telling me," Tara agreed, panting slightly.

"I’ve never seen so many cars in my life! But everyone was really nice and we got a lovely lunch in the stewards tent with chocolate biscuit cake!" she said, bubbling over with happiness.

“I got some chocolate biscuit cake too. It was delicious,” Una said excitedly. “Oh, and I bought this.”

She held up a little fluffy horse keyring. “Doesn’t it look like Superstar!”

Roisin nodded, her mind still lingering on the memory of the professional riders and their horses.

"The dressage tests were incredible! I loved learning about what the dressage judges were looking for. And I’ve never written so much in one day ever!"

"Did you get to see George and Superstar, Roisin?" Una asked curiously.

Roisin shook her head, trying not to let the disappointment show in her voice.

"No, not yet. I think they did their dressage test in a different arena. But hopefully tomorrow I can see them doing the cross-country. That would be amazing!"

Just the thought of seeing George and Superstar was enough to ignite a spark of excitement in Roisin's eyes.

"I can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow," Una exclaimed with a yawn. The girls, tired but happy, made their way back to the stewards tent to catch the school bus back to Saddlestone.

It would be an early start again the next day and they needed to get some sleep.
